NEF Ireland 2020

The 16th of October, the FOLM team in Ireland hosted an online webinar, the New Education Forum.

The topic of the webinar was “Exploring your local place through outdoor education”. The webinar started with an introduction to the FOLM project, which included a conversation with a past participant about their experience with FOLM. It was a very moving experience which even brought some of the participants to tears. We then had three speakers who covered outdoor education from three different perspectives, including research, place-based education in the Burren, a practical perspective, and a more theoretical perspective. The speakers were Áine Bird, from Burrenbeo Trust, Ged Dowling from Terra Firma and then Stephen Hannan from Galway Mayo Institute of Technology. An engaged audience and very interesting speakers lead to some great discussions. I think it’s safe to say that the speakers and audience alike were very motivated by the end of the webinar, with lots of food for thought.
